A Hidden Gem With Heart — Blue Hole, Ocho Rios

点评：Our group visited Blue Hole and had an intimate, memorable experience. Most likely, this was due to three factors: (1) we visited later in the day, thus the cruise ship visitors had left to return to their boat; (2) the weather was squally with passing showers and some heavy rain; and (3) our guide, Tony, made it so.
With very few other guests around, our group of eight jumped from the rocks, swam in the pools, explored the falls, and made full use of the rope swings — all with Tony quietly keeping us safe and comfortable. Our group was diverse in age and ability, yet he managed to accommodate everyone’s needs with ease. He’s a softly spoken man of few words, but somehow still highly engaging. Many of us jumped from the rocks and platforms, and one of us even dove into one of the pools (that was me — and it felt fantastic).
The Blue Hole itself is a unique spot. Not quite as singular as Dunn’s River Falls, perhaps, but absolutely the kind of place you could return to again and again. You could easily spend a whole day just relaxing by one of the pools or falls. They offer refreshments, and every staff member we encountered — from arrival to departure — was warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help.
It’s worth noting that Hurricane Melissa caused significant damage across Jamaica, and not everything at Blue Hole has been fully rebuilt yet. You can see signs of that around the site. The payment system at the entrance, for example, wasn’t working smoothly during our visit. But what really stood out was how the staff handled it: always with a smile, always eager to resolve any issue, and always making sure we were taken care of.
Blue Hole is a hidden gem — a place with charm, character, and heart. Despite the lingering storm damage, the experience itself was fantastic, and the staff made it even better. Terrific value for money too!
