Aether的点评
点评：I have NEVER complimented Manchester Airport. I’ve always found the experience annoying, congested and, frankly, not the start to what should be a relaxing time away — something most of us have worked very hard to pay for.
In the past, we have used FastTrack and booked the adults-only 1903 Lounge, something Manchester Airport has now also removed. Our experience in May 2026 was far from ideal and made us seriously question whether we even wanted to fly out of Manchester Airport again.
We decided we had two options: use an alternative airport, or try Aether.
Sadly, TUI don’t offer the full-service experience at Aether, so we did still have to drop our bags off in T2. However, that took all of seven minutes and we were on our way to try out what promised to be a much more exclusive Manchester Airport experience.
We had booked an Uber through the app. Our driver arrived in just six minutes, and the journey itself took another six minutes.
When we arrived at Aether, we were early — 35 minutes early for our 13:50 booking. We were expecting to wait outside until our booking time, but a member of the team came out to greet us and invited us inside.
They were extremely welcoming. Nothing was mentioned about us being early. They checked our boarding passes and passports, gave us a brief tour of the facilities and immediately made us feel welcome.
I expected the experience to be relaxed and quiet, but what we didn’t expect was to have the whole place to ourselves for the entire time.
Obviously, that cannot be guaranteed, but it certainly made us feel even more special.
The drinks were constantly topped up, the food was fantastic and, thankfully, we had a beautifully sunny day, allowing us to make the most of the fantastic views across the airfield.
Then came one of the highlights.
Seeing our aircraft land and taxi towards us, eventually filling the windows directly in front of us, while we sat back and enjoyed a glass of champagne, was something very special.
We received a ten-minute warning before we were due to be driven across to the terminal. It was just enough time to finish our drinks, freshen up and get ready to leave.
Having our own private security staff, with no pressure and no other people around, was incredibly refreshing.
We were then taken across to T2 in a BMW X7. Our driver was extremely friendly and chatted with us throughout the journey.
When we arrived at the terminal, she escorted us all the way to our gate and even said she would try to make sure we were first in the boarding queue.
And she did.
We were first in the queue.
We even got a hug before boarding the flight.
Yes, Aether isn’t cheap.
But when we considered that in the past we had paid for a lounge and FastTrack, only to arrive at the aircraft feeling like we had just been through a torture chamber, Aether felt worth every single penny.
For us, it completely changed our perception of flying from Manchester.
Rather than the airport experience being something we had to endure before our holiday could begin, Aether made it feel like the holiday had already started.
And that, ultimately, is what made the experience so special.
