点评:We expected something along the lines of the Edo Museum in Tokyo that would give the broader history of Osaka’s place within Japan and the major eras. We found the scope of the museum to be very limited and rather unsophisticated. We couldn’t find any information about Osaka during World War II. We saw one video all in Japanese that appeared to mention the bombing. But it was such an important part of Japan’s history, boom and bust, that it was unbelievable not to have an entire section on it. Most of all, perhaps our disappointment was in the lack of English labels and other didactic materials. There were no audio guides we could rent or use in English. And horribly, the English labels were often on the floor or near the floor in small type requiring you to bend way over. Many of the exhibits had no English labels, which would be fine if they offered an alternative audio guide. There were no staff anywhere to ask questions of. Unless they make big changes, I would recommend skipping this venue.
