点评:We popped into the Fordyce Bathhouse while in town for the Preserve Arkansas conference, expecting a basic visitor center with some maps and brochures. What we actually found was a massive, four-story self-guided museum where the entire historic bathhouse operation has been preserved.
You can walk straight through the old locker rooms, treatment areas, hydrotherapy tubs, massage spaces, and dressing rooms. They even have the original equipment, stained glass, and tile work intact. Being able to see how the whole operation ran from the basement up through the top floors gives you an incredible window into the history of Hot Springs and the peak era of thermal bathing.
If you are visiting downtown, do not just walk past it or stop at the front desk. Take the time to explore all the levels and wander through the rooms. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip, and it is absolute must do for anyone interested in history or architecture.
