点评：The Royal Mile (High Street) is the heart of sightseeing in the Old Town of Edinburgh. It dates back to the 12th century and has long served as a commercial throughput from Castle Rock (west) along a steady eastbound descent to the bottom of the hill, stretching one Scottish Mile. This is a place well worth spending a few hours to explore and do a bit of sightseeing, shopping and dining while in the city.
These days the Royal Mile is lined with historic pubs, plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops where you can buy kilts, cashmere, whiskey amongst other Scottish themed items. There are important churches like St. Giles, themed attractions like the Whiskey Experience and the imposing Edinburgh Caste at the top of the Royal Mile. There are quite a few monuments, including important Scottish and local historic figures, side closes (alleys) and streets that are also fun to explore.
