点评:The Père Lachaise cemetery is gorgeous and worth leaving the city center for. It is a peaceful and serene place with amazing mausoleums (I am rating the cemetery itself as "excellent"/ 5 stars, but not necessarily the visit itself...)
My primary goal was to visit Jim Morrison's grave, which we found easily using Google Maps. Next, we wanted to find Edith Piaf's grave and were checking Maps when we were approached by an individual who referred to himself as "Rafael Perez", claiming he had been working as a guide for over 20 years and that he knew the cemetery well and could take us to Edith Piaf's grave using a "shortcut" (his favorite word) since we were allegedly "walking in the wrong direction" (which I am now 100% certain was a ruse).
We had seen him earlier talking to a group and assumed he was a guide and was just being "friendly" and wanted to help us find Piaf's grave faster. After around 20 minutes of zig-zagging across the cemetery at a very fast pace and showing us numerous graves of other famous people (that we had not actually intended to visit, but assumed were simply "along the way), we started growing suspicious, but he kept insisting that we were "almost there". We continued rushing on "shortcuts" through the cemetery and when we finally arrived at Edith Piaf's grave, he demanded that we pay him. He had given no indication at all that he was taking us on an unsolicited tour, nor had he mentioned any price in advance. When we told him we had no cash on us, he "cursed" us and told us that "something bad will happen to you later today" and "an accident will happen to you, just wait and see".
Our visit to the cemetery would have been far more pleasant without the encounter with "Rafael Perez". At least we got to see the whole cemetery since he took us on a huge detour to Edith Piaf's grave. I am sharing a photo of him here. If you see him, run for the hills (he is extremely persistent...).
