点评:my teen asked to go, so we made it a must. she like Louis 14. and man, he did quite a job expanding this palace during his reign. it was a SHORT half day, but we knew that going it, so we only made plans for the palace. the train was easy (KNOW THAT THE RER C SPLITS, so make sure you are on the correct one when you get on in paris ) and a very short walk. the line for 9a entry started forming around 815. i got in line and my husband went "Around back" to wander. lucky him. he got into the gardens alone before they had even set up a ticket station. i knew it was $35 extra and that we wouldn't have time so i am glad he got a peak. my teen girls would have like it, but survived fine without it. what i loved was the coronation painting of napolean. i kept thinking to myself...isn't this in the louvre? then i found out, the one in versailles is the 2nd one the artist did. same size. enormous! so...the fun part is that in this second one, he painted himself into the photo and also changed the dress color of one of the girls, the one he had a crush on. so we took a photo and i was so excited to compare when we got to the louvre!!! also, we planned to grab take away food but the place was IN the garden so that wasn't an option. the hall of mirros was practically empty. GO EARLY
