爱丁堡城堡的点评
点评：I thought I could show up, pay for a ticket, and wander into this castle. Someone at the first post told me I could book online or pay at the ticket booth inside, which would cost more. So, I decided to book online. There are time slots you could pick and I guess they do that to avoid overcrowding. There must also be various fraudulent websites selling tickets, as one employee told me to make sure it's the correct website with the emblem. Unfortunately, when I got to the pay page, there was gibberish on my screen. I tried a different browser and received gibberish. The next day, I showed up at the first booth and explained what happened. So, one employee wrote on a note that my next tour time would start at 10 am. I walked up to the second booth and explained what happened during the online booking. When it was time, she walked me inside to the ticket booth and explained to her colleague what happened. She then told me I could get the online ticket price. I thanked her and the ticket person. It's a hike up to the castle, so make sure you're wearing comfy shoes. There is a collection of museums and artifacts all around. Even though there were three school group tours, the place didn't feel crowded - thanks to their time slot allocations. I saw that people who showed up early at the second booth weren't allowed into the museum until their time. The museums are easy to navigate and most of the artifacts are self-explanatory. However, you can rent an audio guide, which I didn't do. At a leisurely exploration pace, it took me three hours to tour all the museums. There were a couple of museums that were under renovations so they were not open to the public. Overall, it was a well-deserved hike up and a wonderful experience with the staff members.
