点评:If you're planning to visit the British Museum, it's important to have a plan. Choose one or two departments that you really want to see and focus on those. Explore them properly, buy a few postcards, and then take some time to sit in the very nice museum café on the Ground Floor to absorb what you've seen.
The British Museum is enormous and can easily feel overwhelming. Fortunately, the collections are well organised, and with a sensible plan you can almost make it feel like a much smaller museum than it actually is.
Before you arrive, decide which section interests you most and head there first. Personally, I highly recommend The Rosetta Stone and the Egyptian galleries, which contain some of the museum's most impressive and memorable exhibits.
Then save the rest for another trip. 🙂 The British Museum rewards repeat visits. A few hours spent exploring one part of the collection in depth can be far more enjoyable than rushing through the entire museum in an afternoon.
P.S. The architecture alone is worth the visit. The magnificent glass roof and the sweeping staircases are a delight for both the eye and the mind. Before you even begin exploring the collections, the building itself leaves a lasting impression. It is one of the rare museums where the architecture is every bit as memorable as the exhibits it houses.
