点评:Toronto Islands surprised me in a really good way.
I went twice during the summer, and what I liked most is how quickly the atmosphere changes. You leave downtown Toronto, take the ferry for a few minutes, and suddenly you are surrounded by beaches, green spaces, bicycles, picnics and people just enjoying a slower day.
It really feels like a little escape from the city.
Now, let’s talk about the ferry.
Both times I went, it was packed.
The first time was on a Sunday. Going to Toronto Islands was already busy, but coming back was honestly chaotic. It felt like every single person in Toronto had decided to return at the same time.
The second time I went during the week thinking I had finally discovered the secret to avoiding the crowds.
Apparently, everyone else had the same idea. 😂
So yes, if you visit Toronto Islands in summer, patience is part of the experience.
The public ferry is very affordable, around CAD 9.57 round trip, so it is definitely the best option if you want to save money.
But if you can spend a little more, I completely understand choosing a water taxi. They are around CAD 14 each way, and after experiencing a very crowded ferry twice, I can say that paying a little extra for comfort starts to sound very reasonable.
Once you arrive, Toronto Islands itself is lovely.
Both times I ended up spending a lot of time near the beach, taking some sun, talking with friends and just relaxing.
I would also recommend renting a bike. There is much more to explore than just the beach, and cycling around the islands seems like one of the best ways to really enjoy the area.
One thing I would plan better next time is food.
Near the beach where I stayed, I only noticed one restaurant. There may be more options in other parts of the islands, but if you plan to spend most of the day there, bring water, maybe a snack, and check restaurant options before you arrive.
And please, if you can, plan your return around sunset.
Taking the ferry back while watching the Toronto skyline with the sunset behind it is beautiful. That was one of my favourite parts of the whole experience.
I would absolutely recommend Toronto Islands if you are visiting Toronto.
Just don’t go expecting a tropical beach.
Go for the atmosphere, nature, bike rides, beach time, picnics, friends and one of the best skyline views of Toronto.
And if the ferry line looks like it might test your emotional stability, there is always the water taxi. 😂
