bags of potential but somehow misses the mark

点评：we were excited to visit auchindrain but felt disappointed by the reality.
when we got there we were told to go through the side gate and the cafe/shop was shut. no one checked our tickets or offered us a map of the site and yet clearly from the signs around the township there was some sort of map available. I presume it was online but we had no signal to check. each house was interesting and had some information but we felt that it could have been so much better with a questionnaire/quiz for the child with us, and some people in costume in one or two of the houses. fires could be lit in each house each morning and signs asking people to pop a log on if needed, and having a lady dressed as the wise woman in the first house for an hour or two each day, especially on weekends and during holidays , cooking flat bread or similar on the fire and telling people about 'herself' would have made the experience so much better! I would have paid double for that.
We recognise there is limited funds available, but maps or more signs or QR codes, just some way of providing a little bit more info and maybe a route we should be taking would have elevated our experience tenfold.
We do recommend people go, but our little girl was a tad bored so maybe something to engage the kids?
Looking forward to seeing where this township goes in the future.
