点评:One of the world's most extraordinary, exquisite, mind blowing music museums I've ever been in!
On my vacation in Arizona, my family and I visited M.I.M. (Musical Instrument Museum), and we had such a great, exciting time, we had to save the fun for a second visit; we didn't make it through everything, and had to return!
At the welcome desk, we were given these special devices with headphones, so whenever we were close to a TV screen near an instrument display, or perhaps a kind of transmission mark near an instrument, we could listen to how that instrument sounded, see who was playing it in action, and how other famous musicians and singers and bands carried that instrument through history! There were separate rooms for all corners, countries, and continents on our planet, and each area housed breathtaking displays of older instruments, clothing, and other pieces of equipment that went with the instruments. There was old taiko drums, string, and woodwind instruments from Africa and Asia (including video clips of people of those countries and continents playing those instruments), different kinds of acoustic guitars for country or blues, old electric guitars and drum sets for rock and roll, and even old synthesizers, keyboards, and DJ machines for electronic, dance, and hip hop and rap music. I can tell the staff really did their research and collecting thoroughly, carefully, and delicately, making sure each display and room was crafted neatly for each of the guests and visitors to see.
On lower levels, there was a free-to-play piano, a cafe area, and a room with instruments like guitars, xylophones, and violins, free to play and practice with for visitors; just be sure to wash your hands when you are finished, and wipe the instruments with sanitation wipes!
In another room, there was a giant orchestrion called "Apollonia". Built in the 1920's, there was a free public playing of it; me, my family, and a crowd of other visitors had all gathered around to hear it play two different songs, one of which was "Rock around the Clock".
With a whole lot of educational history, rooms, instruments, and other classes and events scheduled in their calendar, M.I.M. is one of the most mind blowing, breath taking, joyful museums you'll ever visit! A must stop destination for all music lovers, and players!
