From Stormy Night to a Perfect Sunrise

点评：We had an unforgettable overnight climb of Mount Pico with Manuel from Pico Me Up on August 10–11.
The ascent went well, but when we reached the camping area we were hit by extremely strong winds and some rain. With Manuel’s help, calmness and determination, we managed to set up the tents and decided not to give up. It was absolutely worth it: during the early morning the sky cleared completely, and we experienced an incredible sunrise from the summit of Pico. Manuel even served us fresh coffee and tea up there – a pretty perfect way to start the day.
We were travelling with our two children, aged 9 and 11, and Manuel was fantastic with them. They loved the whole adventure. He was always approachable, answered every question and adapted very well to the different abilities within the group. On the ascent he even brought in a second guide so the group could split into different paces, and on the descent he allowed us to go ahead.
All the equipment provided – tents, sleeping bags and mats – was modern, good quality and in excellent condition.
We had originally planned to climb Pico on our own, but in hindsight we are very happy that this did not work out. Especially with the difficult weather conditions, having Manuel with us made a huge difference.
A truly special experience that our family will never forget. Thank you, Manuel, for making it possible!
