点评：My wife & I booked a guided tour of the roof area of Beverley Minster as a joint Valentine gift. There was a small charge per person which considering the tour lasted over 1 hour was teriffic value and was guided by two volunteers throughout. Rob (our main giude) was a font of knowledge on every aspect of the Minster, so many little anecdotes along the way that really made this tour special. The tour involves climbing about 100 steps to gain access to the inner roof area but there was no pressure to hurry and safety was a top priority throughout.
Our second guide, Kester, who turned out to be Rob's daughter acted as 'backstop' to make sure nobody was left behind in the different areas we visited in the extensive roof area and was also had a wealth of information about the Minster.
By the time we had completed the tour, with lots of opportunity to ask questions/take pictures, we were amased at just what a collosal feat of construction this magnificent medievel Minster must have been. The views over the town and open country beyond are superb and even the large circular windows have a tale or two to tell. There is a secret view only available on this tour so don't miss a once in a lifetime opportunity to see something very few people get to experience, I won't spoil the surprise but it's certainly worth the wait!!!!
If you want one of the most enthralling tours you will ever undertake the Minster roof tour should be top of your list, everybody on the tour thought it was brilliant and we're already planning our next trip back to the town where the Minster will feature in our itenery, just fabulous.
