Brits beware of Portuguese Credit Card Machines.

点评：Nice place just off the beach.
2 of our party of 4 had sea Bass which was good. The other two had the cod which was very disappointing - it was tough.
But the most troubling problem came when we used our credit cards - waiter brought over the card machine, I tapped and punched in the number, the waiter took the machine back - I asked to pay in euros which the waiter said yes he had done just that. I looked at the receipt and he had obviously pressed the wrong options. I pointed out his error and that’s when he got rude…’I’ve been doing this for years’. He has been doing it wrong then for years.
Moral of the story - keep the card machine and do it yourself…always. If the card machine caters for Euros and GBP (for Brits) you take option 2 for Euros and then option 2 AGAIN which says something like you agree that you have refused the option for the bank to convert GBP - ‘REFUSE’ is the correct option to pay in Euros. The waiter was wrong and he was rude.
So beware Brits in Portugal - option 2 and option 2 again. The wording of the machine is a bit shady to say the least.
Never had this problem anywhere else in the world.
