Skerne Bridge的点评
点评：I have been on the train from Darlington to Bishop Auckland a few times. I was aware of the origins of the railway and that this was where the railways began with the Stockton to Darlington Railway. I was not aware of the Skerne Bridge and I was very glad I was able to check it out and gain some appreciation for this historic structure.
I walked from Darlington railway station to visit Hopetown and used google to get me there. I was directed into the car park for the museum which is located behind a gym. You walk alongside a stream and up in front you can see a railway bridge taking the railway over the stream.
At the foot of the bridge there is information about the bridge and plenty more can be found at Hopetown Museum which is free to visit.
I love the design of the bridge which is unchanged for over 200 years. This includes one arch that you can walk through and consider the history and wonder about how many trains have ran over it since it was first built...
