点评:Our OAT travel experience was stellar - if you like meeting new people, experiencing real culture with Moroccan individuals of a variety of backgrounds, seeing the harsh lives as well as the posh. A max of 16 travelers was a breath of fresh air compared to the large tours of up to 60 people we saw.
With the potential for long, boring rides to transverse the country (in a comfortable tour bus) OAT made the travel experience part of the journey, with interesting stops along the way, including meeting a shepherd family (not previously arranged, just stopped and asked), forest monkeys, camel milking, and a drum lesson.
The 2-night stay in comfortable tented camp gave us sun, windstorms, rain and beautiful Star-filled nights and awesome sunsets and sunrises.
The tour prices were excellent for a 14-day (plus 2 days of air travel there and back) between $3000 and 5500 depending on when booked and what discounts applied).
The only cons, which are totally avoidable, are the tour trips to “fixed price” shops for rugs, leather, pottery and tiles, spices and fossils — they were “high quality” however very over priced - when compared to the souks and Medina shops - which makes me think there were considerable kickbacks to the tour operators for bringing us there. Would have rather avoided those tourist places - where the busses lined up.
