点评:Checked in the hotel and went down to the museum for a few hours before dinner. So glad we did. I am a museum fanatic, my wife, not so much, but she will usually go with me and enjoy it. We both had an excellent time at the fort.
Since we were there on a Sunday, the gift shop and refreshments were closed, so bring your own water. But everything else was open for you to walk through. The museum consists of a few original remains of buildings, then several small cabins that have been recreated and furnished with period furnishings, many provided by the descendants of the original settlers. Each cabin told the story of a specific family, with a recorded history in several languages on the doorpost. They also had period wagons and a neat working waterwheel and gold panning area. One of the better pioneer museums I’ve been to in a while, especially for such a small town.
