Small, interesting piece of social history. Well worth a visit.
Framework Knitters' Museum的点评
点评:A really interesting little museum on the outskirts of Nottingham. Well worth a visit. The ticket was £9/person and valid for a year. It's set out to show what life was like for the framework knitters from the accommodation of the workers and the manager to what the working conditions were for the men and their wives. There is a really good display of frames to see and demonstrated. The volunteers and staff are very approachable. Gill on reception was lovely, giving clear directions and explaining the layout of the site. Another Gill was in the workshop. She was extremely knowledgeable about the workings of the machines, as well as the processes in making the knitted fabric, and how the fabric was shaped then finished. Really quite fascinating. In the second workshop there was a range of circular knitting machines for stockings, socks, scarves etc. All very well explained by Helen. We could have a go at making a small piece as well. In the sets of drawers there were examples of products made on the machines amount which were some pairs of Queen Victoria's stockings!
A small tea room provided light refreshments, and the chapel had an exhibition of contemporary textile examples.
Parking is limited, but there is a fair amount of nearby on street parking available.

一间小茶室提供简餐,教堂内则举办了当代纺织品展览。
停车位有限,但附近街边有不少停车位。
