Amazing 15 Day Tour of China

点评：My wife and I just returned from a 15-day tour of China (Small Group Tour: 15 Days Beijing - Xi'an - Guilin - Chengdu - Chongqing - Yangtze River Cruise - Yichang - Shanghai), booked with the Travel China Guide tour company. It was an amazing trip, visiting many historic sites, including: the Forbidden City, Great Wall, and Temple of Heaven in / near Beijing; Terra Cotta Warriors excavation site and city wall in Xi'An; Li River cruise and Reed Flute Cave (very large cave filled with stalactites and stalagmites, lit-up with multi colour lights) in Guilin; Panda centre in Chengdu; a 3 day Yangtze river cruise, including sailing through the 3 Gorges, visiting the 3 Gorges Dam site and seeing the fabulous War Fires of the 3 Kingdoms show; and visiting the museum and historic shopping & Bund areas of Shanghai. I would also recommend adding the optional Impression Sanjie Liu evening show in Yangshuo (where the Li River cruise from Guilin ends), which was fantastic. The 15-day tour covers a lot of ground in western China (in north, central and southern China), and includes 4 high speed train trips (some trips with a duration of 6+ hours) and a domestic flight from Xi'an to Guilin. Travel China Guide did an amazing job arranging all of the hotels (4+ star western hotels), transportation within China, most meals, and had English speaking guides & drivers at all cities, meeting us at the airports and train stations, taking us to the hotels, taking care of the hotel check-in process, touring around the cities, and returning us to the train stations / airports. It should be noted that the tour does involve a fair amount of walking, and early morning starts most days, in order to beat the crowds at a number of sites, and the pace of travel is fairly fast, in order to cover all of the sites / cities. However it was an amazing experience and well worth it! To find-out information about the tour / tour options and to book the tour, I worked with the Travel Consultant (Emily) from Travel China Guide, who was extremely helpful and responsive. I could not imagine doing this trip without a travel agency arranging it, given the challenges arranging all of the site visits / tours / entrance tickets, as well as the accommodation / transportation / meals in each city, and given that English is not widely spoken in China. I highly recommend this tour and the Travel China Guide travel service, who made this an amazing, memorable vacation for us.
