点评:I stayed at Lake Hemet for several months and never expected things to end the way they did.
When I decided to leave, I explained to management that I was leaving because I had been harassed on more than one occasion by another resident and no longer felt comfortable staying there. I wasn’t asking for anything, I was hoping they would help find a solution. Instead, I left feeling blamed, dismissed, and victim-shamed.
What was so frustrating is that no one asked, “What can we do to make you feel safe?” No one offered to move my trailer to another spot or tried to come up with any kind of compromise. Instead, I felt like I was the problem for speaking up.
The situation then turned into weeks of emails, stress, and eventually a formal demand letter instead of a simple conversation to try to resolve things.
Because of all of this, I ended up staying in hotels with my son and animals while trying to figure out what to do next. It cost me money, time, and a lot of unnecessary stress.
Then, after everything that had already happened, I was offered complimentary site rent if I came back. That completely missed the point. I didn’t want free months to return to a place where I no longer felt safe. I wanted support when I explained why I was leaving.
What hurts the most is that this all could have been handled differently. A little compassion, better communication, and a more trauma-informed response could have changed the outcome. Instead of feeling heard and supported, I left feeling blamed and dismissed.
Based on my experience, I can’t recommend Lake Hemet. If you ever find yourself in a difficult situation there, I hope your concerns are taken more seriously than mine were…..
