Capilano Salmon Hatchery的点评
点评：We enjoyed our evening visit to the hatchery in mid August. This is prime time for salmon spawning and we saw several jump the waterfalls in the hatchery. There are windows to see the salmon waiting to spawn and windows to see the salmon jumping the "waterfall" into the hatchery area. They have displays to see salmon at different life phases as well as models to show healthy salmom. We got here about 30 minutes before closing and had the area mostly to ourselves. There is some signage to read and some good bathroom facilities too.
After visiting the hatchery we walked around to see the dam area and could see little salmon in the water and big salmon working their way through the water to the hatchery. The hatchery is in the middle of the Capilano River Regional Park and there are some nice trails in the area. We enjoyed the Coho Loop Trail and would consider spending more time in the area if we arrived earlier or planned to have a picnic in the seating area. We think 30 minutes at the hatchery and an hour or two in the area would be a good amount of time. The area is free to visit and is located north of Vancouver's Stanley Park.
