点评:The Parliament Buildings of Canada are a must do during your stay in Ottawa whether you’re Canadian or not. Three tours are available and my daughter and I were fortunate enough to take all three.
The East Block tour was our least favourite of the three but that being said, it was still fantastic. We were able to see five historic offices including the original offices of the Prime Minister and Governor General.
The Senate (temporarily relocated across the street in a historic train station building) takes you into and above Canada’s Senate Chamber.
The highlight of the three is the House of Commons tour in its temporary location in an interior courtyard which is absolutely stunning.
All three tours were free, educational (easily digestible) and no more than 40 minutes long. Tour guides were incredible and made the content of the tours relevant and interesting.
As for the Parliament Buildings themselves the Centre Block is under heavy renovations so anybody hoping to see it in its full glory the next few years will be disappointed. The Peace Tower however is fully viewable and not covered by scaffolding.
Whether you’re from Canada or not. Coming here is your first step in understanding why this country and our people are so great.
