点评:We didn't know this existed until we planned a walk toward the Ala Wai canal. We were there for a few hours on 9-11. Owned by the U.S. Army, it is a free attraction and is located in the decommissioned Battery Randolph, a former coastal artillery battery, located at Fort DeRussy Military Reservation. The exhibits emphasize the role of Hawaiians in wars from the inter-island conflicts before Hawaii was a territory of the U.S. to the Viet Nam War, plus the defense of the islands. Inside, the exhibits included weapons, uniforms and other equipment of both the US forces and their foes. The attack on Pearl Harbor is well documented. We found that the presentation of events was done in an unbiased manner. These would include the failure to take action on the early warnings of the Pearl Harbor attack and of the treatment of Americans of Japanese descent. There is an excellent Gallery of Heroes, that honours Hawaiians who earned the Medal of Honor or the Distinguished Service Cross. The exhibits are primarily in rooms located off the main hallway. Outside upstairs there is a Cobra helicopter gunship and an old battery cannon. Outside downstairs there are some larger articles, including tanks. We found the museum informative and very well done.
