Private deep sea charter, always have great success here.

点评：Last week we did a private deep sea fishing charter. This was (iirc) our fifth time booking direct with AquaWorld. We are frequent visitors to Excellence Playa Mujeres, and they have a kiosk at the resort, so it's quick and easy to book there.
Every time, we've booked a private charter (highly recommend going that route) for just my wife and I, or us and one other couple we were friends with. We've done them at various times throughout the year, and every time we've had good success. On trips where we didn't catch a lot of fish, we always caught at least a handful, with 2-3 notable big ones. On a couple of trips we've simply crushed it the entire time. We always take note of the crew we are with (and tip them well), and request by name the guys we've had a positive experience with on previous trips.
Last week, I specifically wanted to try to get into some sailfish, even thought I knew it was just at the very tail end of the season, and could be a challenge. We had Marcelo and Luis for the crew, both of whom we've had before, and Eddy for the Captain. It took a while to get into a sailfish, but when we did Eddy was awesome in keeping the boat positioned and moving the right direction, and I pulled in a 90" fish! Afterwards we switched it up and caught some very nice red snapper, which we had for dinner that night at our resort.
A few details that may be helpful for some. Getting a private charter costs a bit more (not so much more if you have friends to split it with), but allows you to have more input on what you fish for, and more time in the action when a fish is on. The ride out is likely going to be over an hour, so be prepared. If you get seasick, I recommend taking dramamine the night before, and again that morning. If you get something colorful, like a Mahi Mahi, try to get pictures ASAP before it gets put in the cooler, it'll lose color fast once it is dead. With any larger trophy type fish, they WILL ask right away (while you are still excited about the catch, lol) if you want it mounted or not. If you do, the deposit (half the cost) is non-refundable, and typical fish mountings are fiberglass, not the actual fish itself. That said, I've chosen to mount in the past and they did an awesome job of replicating my exact fish, but ONLY because I had really good/clear pictures of my actual fish to share. If you don't want the mount, or don't want to spend the money, that is fine. I've chosen not to mount fish and didn't get any negative reaction beyond them reconfirming or saying it would be awesome to have forever.
Note that the Mahi Mahi pics are from a previous trip, but show how well the mount was done. The sailfish pic and red snapper were from this trip.
