多洛雷斯奥尔梅多博物馆的点评
点评：This jewel reopened in May after many years of being closed. This place is reason enough to come back to Mexico City ir to visit. It is not that far from Roma or Polanco, but even if there is traffic, you will see a part of this amazing city tourists seldom experience. The museum grounds are gorgeous, ancient trees and cactuses, xoloizcuintles (Aztec dogs), peacocks, flowers, and centuries old capilla. You can see Dolores Olmedos house with original furnishings and personal items. And the best collection of Diego’s, cubist and realistic Diego. His last painting, watermelons. Great Fridas! But more importantly, it is a sneak view on their lives and relationships. It is a history lesson on the world and Mexico. You cannot miss this place. Take an uber, or arrange transportation from your hotel. Don’t drive, no places to park. If you go, try to have lunch at the Arroyo restaurant, a Mexico City must. Best place For barbacoa and carnitas.
Diego and Frida made their home in southern Mexico City, Coyoacán mostly, San Angel. The setting of this museum is perfect given this history.
The life of Mrs Olmedo could be a novel, she was a larger of life figure. Many livers, marriages, children, and extremely successful self made business woman when Mexico was the most machista country in the world.
We should thank her and her family, the Phillips family for keep this jewel and collection for us to enjoy and learn.
