Hidden Gem in Yogyakarta! Fun Workshop, Raw Cacao Tasting, and Great Value!

点评：I visited the Monggo Chocolate Factory & Museum in Yogyakarta. While Monggo Chocolate is sold elsewhere in Indonesia, buying direct from the factory offers the best prices and the widest selection! It mostly attracts local visitors, making it a true hidden gem.
During the museum tour, I was surprised to see Japanese Imari porcelain in one of the glass display cases. I asked the guide if the large jar was Imari ware, and they confirmed it! Seeing Japanese heritage inside a chocolate museum in Indonesia was an unexpected delight.
I also joined the hands-on chocolate-making workshop. After pouring melted chocolate into the mold, you turn it upside down and tap the back vigorously with a spatula. The instructor told me to tap it about 30 times! After filling them with caramel and placing them in the cooler for 30 minutes, I ended up with three lovely pieces of chocolate.
While waiting, I tried the raw cacao tasting experience. They served a freshly cut open cacao fruit. Tasting raw cacao beans for the first time was an extraordinary experience—it wasn't sweet at all! I also enjoyed tasting various chocolate drinks and small chocolate samples.
Before the tour, I tried their gelato (Chocolate and Choco-Mint). I saw Cassis on display and asked for it, but they told me it was just for display and not for sale! Despite that little surprise, the gelato I had was very delicious.
Finally, I picked up my finished chocolates and browsed the gift shop, which has an amazing variety of flavors like Mango, Coconut, and Hojicha (roasted green tea). I bought plenty as souvenirs. Highly recommended if you visit Yogyakarta!
