象鼻湾的点评
点评：We arrived via Red Hook passenger ferry and shared taxi. Both were easy to use and have set pricing. The National Park Service charges admission, even if you have a USNPS lifetime pass. There is a stand that rents chairs, snorkel gear, and some lockers you can rent to secure belongings (like a car key fob). There is also a bar with nonalcoholic and alcoholic drinks, burgers, nachos, etc., and some souvenirs. The park also has some public showers and flush toilets.
You walk down a paved path and within a minute or two have access to a beautiful white soft sand beach . The underwater trail was interesting but not as educational as I had hoped. The area near the underwater trail had some good snorkeling. We saw a school of cuttlefish change color right in front of our eyes. We also saw rays, parrot fish, angel fish and more. Returning to the ferry was easy too. The taxis run continuously and stop at designated signs in the parking lot. The day we went the parking for cars was full so I’m glad we opted for taxi.
PS - the NPS visitor center in town was closed on Sundays so we couldn’t get our passport stamp. Check ahead if you’re interested in getting a stamp.
