点评:The Pueblo village in Frijoles Canyon dates back to the mid-1200's and was occupied for over 250 years. The villages had grown from 40 rooms to over 400. Bandelier NM consisted of two main villages and many cavates (human-excavated caves) but the inhabitants had moved on by the mid-1500's shortly before the Spanish colonization. The locals were farmers growing corn, beans & squash and weaving & pottery making. They also supplemented their diet by hunting deer, rabbits, birds & other mammals. Swiss historian & self-taught anthropologist Adolph Bandelier explored the Canyon in 1880 and documented his finds in books. We have been lucky enough to visit several other Pueblo sites in the past, including Mesa Verde, Taos & Manitou Cliff dwellings and find them to be fascinating places & give a great insight as to how these people existed & lived. Really good National Monument & a tribute to the work of the NPS.
