点评:We went to Mount Rushmore both during the day and for the inspiring evening lighting ceremony.
During the day, it’s worth the walk down to the sculptor’s studio and the interesting ranger talk.
The movie inside the Lincoln Visitors Center and exhibits there are wonderful context to the mountain itself.
We were told we could pay for parking with our gift shop order but something didn’t work right and we were charged twice for parking. On the good news side of things, it was only $10 and our parking receipt is good for one year from our first visit.
We arrived about 15 minutes prior to the start of the evening lighting ceremony and sat in the center section. That ceremony currently starts at 8 pm through September 30. The ranger program provided great perspective on all 4 presidents memorialized there and the video that led up to the lighting was beautifully patriotic and inspiring.
If you’re a Veteran or Gold Star family member, please accept the invitation to come to the stage near the end of the program. You deserve every moment of the thanks these national memorial fans are ready to offer you.
