点评:We visited the crystal mining site at 41 Cherokee Mine Road, which is advertised as a dog-friendly location, but unfortunately our experience was extremely upsetting and unsafe.
When we arrived at the public parking lot for the mining site, several dogs belonging to the property owners were roaming freely off leash and without supervision. At least three dogs ran toward us, and one medium-sized dog (around 40 lbs, yellow with a black back, shown on CCTV picture) suddenly attacked our service dog, who was trained and never showed any unfriendly behavior, and who was on leash the entire time.
Our dog suffered a wound on her nose that required a ER visit. Even more concerning, the stress from the attack later caused blood in her urine.
What was even more shocking was the owners’ reaction. After the attack, the dog owners—who are also the owners/operators of the mining property—came out from an RV on the property. Shortly afterward, the woman loaded the dogs into a vehicle and attempted to leave the scene instead of properly addressing the situation. They refused to provide any rabies record. Since the incident the owners have not responded to our calls or messages at all.
For a place that promotes itself as dog-friendly, allowing multiple dogs to roam freely and aggressively in a public parking area is extremely dangerous for visitors and their pets.
We hope the owners will take responsibility and ensure their dogs are properly controlled so that other visitors do not experience the same situation
