点评:Interesting house full of furniture, art work, and other antique furnishings from the Henry F. Dupont family collection. The house tour begins in the conservatory which is full of lush plants. Then you begin a self-guided tour at your own pace. Some reviewers didn't like that and wished for a guided tour, but I liked not having to listen to a long-winded tour guide talk about things that wouldn't interest me. There are docents in nearly every room so you can ask questions about what interests you.
There was a Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington. There was a China set that had belonged to George Washington, via Robert E. Lee who had married a Custis (Washington stepson) descendent. We didn't tour the art exhibit. The grounds are huge and there is a shuttle from the admission area up to the actual house. I thought the $27 admission charge was steep, but it must cost a fortune to maintain this place. If you have a NARM or ROAM card admission for two is free.
