点评:This is a completely free museum located behind the Oconaluftee Visitor Center, and accessible if traveling the Newfound Gap Road. You do need a parking pass if parking longer than 15 minutes, which you will likely do at this museum. It is outdoors, so be mindful of weather. The museum is a collection of buildings from a frontier homestead to illustrate life for early mountain settlers. Each building has a small sign to give information on what the building is, along with a few pictures. You cannot go inside the house, but it is furnished and you can view it from the open door. When we were there, there was a reenactor baking a cake in the kitchen. She was very social, friendly, and involved both adults and children in education. It was not too busy when we were there, and absolutely worth the stop. I would imagine most spending 30-60 minutes depending how quickly you walk through.
