点评:We are staying in the area and as I'm a social history geek my partner thought this would interest me.
The visitors centre is small, one room with a few interesting items and some information boards. I would have liked to know more about the people that worked there but that is just personal preference. The guided tour is now £5. We chose to use our own phones but there's a lack of signage to indicate the next area to visit.
The area is predominantly flat but as my partner and myself both have mobility issues, I believe there were areas that we couldn't access. The site itself needs much more work and care. The carriages and buildings were covered over with overgrown weeds. The buildings can only be accessed by returning back to the visitor centre and asking them to open them up. It would have been helpful to have had images placed on the railings around the building etc so that you could see what they originally looked like both outside and in. Our visit didn't last long at all. There does appear to be some improvement works taking place however much more needs to be done to make it a worthwhile place to visit.
