A peaceful stop on the way to Mount John Observatory

点评：Lake Alexandria is a peaceful and beautiful spot just a short drive from Lake Tekapo. If you’re heading to the Mount John Observatory, it’s definitely worth making a brief stop along the way to enjoy the scenery and quiet surroundings.
The lake offers lovely views in a sense of tranquility that makes it a nice place to slow down and take the natural beauty of the area. Visitor should know that there are no walking trails or restroom facilities, and a significant portion of the road is gravel.
While I enjoyed my visit, I’m not sure I would have made a special trip solely to see the lake. However, as part of a visit to the observatory or the surrounding area, it is certainly worth stopping for a few photos and some peaceful time by the water.
One unexpected highlight of my visit was discovering the bright red mushrooms that grow in this area that are called Amanita muscaria. Finding them absolutely made my day and added a memorable touch to an already enjoyable stop. Overall Lake Alexandria is a quiet, scenic detour that is well worth a look if you’re exploring the Lake Tekapo region.
