Great experience that left me feeling energized
AIRE Ancient Baths Chicago的点评
点评：We went to AIRE on Saturday morning and really enjoyed the experience. What I liked most was that it wasn’t one of those spas where you feel like you have to be completely silent the entire time. There were plenty of people milling around, but it never felt crowded or chaotic.
The bath experience itself is beautiful. There is a body-temperature pool, a hot pool, and a cold plunge that, thankfully, wasn’t unbearably cold. There is also a dry sauna and a peppermint steam room with a cold plunge inside of it. One of my favorite areas was the indoor/outdoor pool with the waterfall. The whole space is marble with real candles everywhere, which makes the experience feel very luxurious and honestly a little bit like you’re being treated like royalty.
They give you a robe and water shoes, and I loved the little details throughout. For your service, they even put your swimsuit in a warmer for you, which was such a nice touch. There are water stations throughout the spa, although there aren’t really snacks or anything to eat. I also wouldn’t necessarily plan to bring a book and settle in for hours. The layout and experience are more about enjoying the baths and the atmosphere than finding a quiet lounge chair and reading.
We did the salt scrub and really enjoyed it as a sensory experience. That said, I personally wanted a little more actual exfoliation afterward, as the scrub performed by the staff wasn’t quite as exfoliating as I was expecting. I think this is probably worth knowing if you’re looking for a very intense exfoliating treatment.
We also did the Holistic Ritual, which included a hair mask. This was the one part of the service that was a little unclear to me. I don’t remember having anything put in my hair. My friend thought she received it, although she described it as more of a light oil. When I hear “hair mask,” I picture something more like a thick cream, so I wasn’t really sure if I had missed that portion of the treatment or if it was simply a different type of product than I expected.
One thing I really appreciated was the wristband system. They give you a wristband that vibrates when it’s time for you to be found for your service, so you don’t have to keep checking the clock or worry about missing your appointment. You also get a colored wristband indicating your allotted time at the spa. I wasn’t completely clear on exactly when we needed to leave, though. I understood that they fit your service in based on when the providers are ready, but I wasn’t sure when we would actually be “kicked out.” Because of that, we ended up leaving after our service rather than going back to enjoy the baths again. A little more clarity around the timing would have been helpful.
The bathrooms were also really nice and stocked with great products, and they even have Dyson hair dryers, so definitely take advantage of that before you leave.
There is a lot of staff around and you can tell they are constantly communicating with each other, which I thought was a good thing. I also really liked the layout of the facility. Everything is tucked around corners and separated in a way that gives you privacy without making you feel isolated. You’re never really staring into someone else’s space or feeling like someone is invading yours.
Overall, I thought the cost was pretty in line with what I would expect for this type of experience. Between the beautiful space, the baths, the service, and all of the little touches, it felt like a good value for a luxury spa experience. There are a couple of things I would have liked to have been clearer on, particularly the timing and the hair mask, but I would definitely recommend AIRE if you’re looking for a unique and relaxing experience in Chicago.
