点评:Located on a roundabout at the junction of Grand Parade and Lumley Road, this 56 foot tall Grade II listed clock tower is one of the principle features of the famous seaside town of Skegness.
Originally built in 1898 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, it has remained a huge feature and prominent part of Skegness identity ever since. You will often see the clock tower adorning the various postcards of Skegness.
It is a comforting sight to me. As someone who has been visiting Skegness for over 40 years, I have always known just where I am when I see the clock tower. It is close to the beach and the promenade/principal amenities, and so anyone who visits Skegness is almost guaranteed to see it.
Made of distinctive red brick, and with a poinyed bronze roof, the clock tower doesn't feature any bells or anything like that, though I believe it still keeps correct time.
