Five fantastic days in Tanjung Puting

点评：We spent five days and four nights on the boat as a family of five, and it was a great start to our holiday in Indonesia.
Our guide, Fitri, looked after us from start to finish. She was energetic, attentive and spoke very good English. She was also open and happy to tell us about herself and life in Kalimantan, which made the experience feel much more personal.
We had the upper deck of the boat to ourselves, while Fitri and the crew stayed below. Every evening they set up our beds and mosquito nets, and sleeping on the river was comfortable and peaceful. The food was excellent, and catering for two vegetarians was no problem at all.
The orangutans were obviously one of the main reasons we came. We visited various feeding stations, and at the first one Fitri showed me a great vantage point away from the main seating area which offered an excellent view of the orangutans approaching the feeding platform. As a keen photographer, I appreciated having plenty of time and opportunities to take photos without ever feeling rushed.
An unexpected highlight was visiting Sekonyer Village. Our kids played football with the school children, watched them practising for the Independence Day celebrations and joined in their dancing.
The night walk was another highlight, with tarantulas, scorpions, venomous centipedes and even an owl. There was plenty to see while cruising too, with Fitri and the crew regularly pointing out monkeys, birds and other wildlife along the river.
From pickup to the airport transfer at the end, everything was taken care of. Great food, a lovely crew, plenty of wildlife and a very good guide. We couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Indonesia.

夜间漫步也是一大亮点——我们看到了狼蛛、蝎子、有毒的蜈蚣，甚至还有一只猫头鹰。乘船游览时同样有诸多景致可赏。在旅途中，菲特里和工作人员经常指给我们看河边的猴子、鸟类以及其他野生动物。
从接机到最后送往机场，所有事宜都安排得井然有序。美食可口，工作人员友善可爱，沿途能见到许多野生动物，导游也非常出色。我们再也无法奢求一次比这更好的印尼初体验了。
