Musée de la Romanité的点评
点评：This excellent modern museum is located opposite the Arènes de Nîmes so it is easy to visit both. We purchased the Pass Romaine which gave access to this site, the ampitheatre, the museum and the tower. We were there in a heatwave so we actually saved the museum till the afternoon - the air conditioning was very welcome.
The collection primarily covers pre-Roman and Roman eras but also has displays on medieval Nimes. There are impressive collections of mosaics, grave stones and inscriptions (epigraphy), as well as statues and everyday items. We almost missed the lower level with its collection of items excavated from Nimes, the miniatures of great Roman monuments as well as a temporary exhibition of items on loan from the Louvre (which was excellent!). The museum makes good use of interactive technology and is well laid out.
