点评：I am puzzled by the lack of enthusiasm by some reviewers for this outstanding museum. The warm welcome, extreme quality and variety of the museum’s contents were genuinely most impressive. We have visited many such institutions over a long travelling life and will remember this as a high point of our short visit to Nimes. After admiring the Arena (admittedly by walking round the exterior) we spent several hours being wowed by the ease with which we learned about this Roman colony with the help of many modern techniques employed to interpret the culture and artefacts.
Perhaps if others had done a lengthy tour of the enormous Arena before tackling the museum they might have been weary and unreceptive. If this was you, give it another go and treat yourself to a good late lunch at one of the many nearby restaurants!
