Turned away for bringing our own umbrella – rude and factually wrong

点评：We visited Agia Fotia beach on 28 August 2026 in the early afternoon. We were carrying a beach umbrella and a cool bag, and before we could say a single word, the man running the sunbeds ordered us off the beach in a openly aggressive tone, claiming the beach was "private property".
Two things are worth knowing. First, in Greece the shoreline is public and no business can send visitors away from the free part of a beach. Second, his assumption about us was simply wrong: we rent two sunbeds and eat at the beach taverna every single day of our holiday. We carry our own umbrella for medical reasons – one of us cannot be in direct sun, and a fixed parasol neither follows the sun through the afternoon nor offers UV protection.
So he judged us on sight and lost customers who would have paid for beds and a full lunch. The bay itself is lovely and well sheltered from the wind. The welcome is what ruined it. After two weeks on Crete, where everyone was warm and generous, this was the only sour experience we had.
