We rented two pedalos from Watersports Luis Molina today and experienced a very serious safety incident involving a black-and-white jet ski in the narrow channel connecting the beach to the sea.
While our pedalo was stationary, one member of our group was in the water behind it. A jet ski came through the narrow channel at what we estimated to be 30+ km/h and passed within approximately one metre of her. She had to press herself against the pedalo to avoid being hit and was understandably terrified.
The rider then appeared to laugh before continuing at high speed and subsequently came dangerously close to two paddleboarders, who also appeared to nearly capsize.
The jet ski was also travelling immediately alongside the netting separating the bathing area from the boating area, with swimmers and other water users nearby.
We have contacted Watersports Luis Molina directly and asked them to investigate whether the jet ski was operated by their team and what action will be taken.
This isn’t about a minor inconvenience or poor customer service — someone could have been seriously injured. I hope the company takes this incident seriously and reviews the safety of jet ski operations in this very confined area.
