Fishing with Bo的点评
点评：I tried reaching out to Bo Rice after our guided trip because I wanted to give him the opportunity to answer some questions and address my concerns before I left a review. I also left a voicemail asking him to call me back and still haven’t heard anything, so unfortunately, this is my review.
This trip left a bad taste in my mouth because of the lack of communication, professionalism, and clarity around the pricing.
I booked a 6-hour striped bass fishing trip for my friend’s birthday for $550. We caught our limit within about the first hour and a half, which was great, and I give Steve credit for putting us on fish quickly but that’s about it. We fished a little longer afterward but then headed back in. Including the ride out and back and meeting up with another boat to give away the remaining bait, the entire trip lasted roughly 3 hours.
We were told that because we were coming back early, the trip would be cheaper and that the price would be $400. We were completely fine with that. We were also told his coworker would be cleaning our fish and that we needed to head back because he was leaving as well. Fish cleaning was another $60. However, when we got to the fish camp, we were told the total was $560. That did not line up with what we had just been told, and there was no clear explanation for the difference.
There were other issues with the experience as well. Steve had earbuds in throughout the whole trip, which kinda makes it difficult to talk with him or ask questions. I was ignored or not heard multiple times and he spent a significant amount of time on the phone with other guides. He clearly knew where the fish were and got us on them, but the overall experience felt more like getting us in and out as quickly as possible rather than providing the 6-hour guided fishing experience I had booked.
Communication before the trip was also poor. Bo told me to meet at the boat launch around 6:30–6:40. I arrived at 6:25 then at 6:30 texted him and got no response. I waited until 6:40 and finally called, only to be told, “Someone should be there. Is there not a brown and white truck?” There was no direction or communication about what was actually going on. Or who I was meeting. I eventually found out from a local that our guide was out getting bait.
Catching fish was not the problem. We caught our limit quickly.The problem was everything surrounding the fishing. For a guided trip, especially one I booked for my friend’s birthday, I expected clear communication, TRANSPARENT pricing, and a guide who was engaged with us during the trip.
I would have happily paid the agreed price and tipped well for a professional 6-hour experience. Instead, we received roughly half the expected trip length, conflicting information about what we owed, poor communication, and an experience that felt rushed and disorganized.
I tried to address my concerns privately before posting this, but since I never received a response, I’m sharing my experience here. Based on my experience, I can’t recommend them.
