点评:August 2026, Carlisle airport. A virgin Experience Day given to me as a BD present by a brilliant friend and fellow James Bond fan. Booking was OK. Pretty straightforward except I was led to believe there was an option to race at my hometown in Sunderland and this was not available at the point of booking. Next nearest venue was 1.5 hours away. (some folk had to travel much further in many reviews.) At the point of booking I was expected to pay an additional surcharge for racing on a Saturday! This was the first of the add-ons. I arrived in plenty of time and after another add-on, a £2 car parking charge, I booked in, only to be told one of the cars my friend had booked for me wasn't available. This wasn't a biggie for me but for others in may well have been. Oh, then I was asked for my CC details and told of a £5,000 collision excess or pay another £34 insurance waiver fee. Given that there were as many children racing in these cars as adults, and not wishing to risk a collision with a 12 year old brought up on Super Mario Cart, then it felt mad not to do this. I was then asked if we wanted to pay more for: extra cars, extra laps, speed laps and extras like photos etc. I then went trackside and waited, and waited and waited. You'll hear of lots and lots and lots and lots of reading out of names. I won't go into that.... But did I mention the waiting? The day was all about waiting. When the time for the first car drive came, the instructor was a really nice young man who did give good instruction throughout the very brief two laps. The car was very tatty in the cabin and had seen better days for a relatively new vehicle. A disappointment. It was over in a flash. Then more name calling out and waiting and waiting and waiting. Finally it was my turn to drive the DB5 replica, the main event, THE James Bond car! It was fun. The instructor was even nicer and informative/helpful than the first. Another brief two laps and it was over. Almost £200 lighter in the pocket and I had the feeling that if these guys could have monetised the waiting somehow they'd have made twice that. I then received an email encouraging me to leave a 5 star review so I could win a "free" repeat experience. Fearing how much this "free" repeat may actually cost me I have decided to leave a honest review. Was I shaken or stirred? Not really... underwhelmed mostly...and I never joke about my work, 007!
