点评:We did the Beauty of Mongolia tour in June as a group of four; my fiancée, her mother, a friend and me, and it delivered exactly what we came for: places most people never get to.
The standout wasn't the Gobi or the Flaming Cliffs, good as they were. It was the stay with the nomad family, helping herd cattle and eating what the household ate. Nothing about it felt arranged for tourists. Riding Bactrian camels out at the dunes came close. We never once felt crowded at any site, on any day, we largely had the place to ourselves.
Our guide aлтан тогос (Altan Togos) was excellent, spoke great English, and our driver 'Moogie' handled hundreds of kilometres of trackless steppe incredible. Both worth asking for.
An honest note; the horse riding felt like a box being ticked, less than an hour, half of our group bound to the lead rider's horse, slowly, in a not very large loop... when we'd happily have given half a day to it.
The drives are long and a lot are off-road. Showers and toilets at the ger camps are mostly shared (you have to pre book and pay extra for ensuite!), and between camps you'll be answering nature's call in nature. Food is fine but repetitive... mutton, more mutton. You also need to be able-bodied and have decent stamina.
Mobile signal was really good almost everywhere, including deep in the Gobi, surprisingly.
