点评：I recently hiked the Chariot Path trail, and here’s my experience. The one-way distance from the trailhead near the abandoned hospital building is about 2.5 km, which can take 2 to 3 hours depending on your pace. You can hire a local village guide if needed, which I recommend for navigating the area. The trail is moderately difficult, with the first section passing through a tea estate and the next stretch through thick forest. The pathway is narrow, and although not a straight uphill, it’s manageable—though the downhill portion can be tricky.
At the top, you’ll find the famous grassland known as the Chariot Path, along with some scenic viewpoints. There are several campgrounds, but unfortunately, there’s a lot of waste now due to the popularity of the spot. Please don’t contribute to the litter—let’s keep this place beautiful! The elevation gain from the base is around 500m.
If you’re planning to return, make sure to bring some snacks and about 1.5 liters of water. Wearing shoes and long-sleeved tops is recommended, also the weather can be unpredictable.
For getting there, public buses are available from the Pussalla Bus Stand to Frotoft Estate or Pettarasi. However, the road condition to the trailhead is very poor, so only a vehicle with good clearance or a motorbike can make the journey. You may also find some three-wheelers around.
