A perfect, quirky little gem

点评：What an absolute gem this place is for Arbroath! It's in a lovely setting near the seaside (and a playground) and is somewhat unassuming from the outside. However step inside and this place is full of charm. It reminds me a lot of the old Electric Cinema in Birmingham and Grosvenor in Glasgow as they were in the 90s, as well as the now long-gone Muirend Cinema in Glasgow. It's cosy, it has cute decor and gives the vibe that it's run for and by cinema lovers. This isn't a soulless multiplex just looking to make money, this is somewhere that wants to make going to the cinema a whole experience. We had a friendly welcome upon arrival and were delighted to be offered the last two Spider-Man pin badges as a free gift (since that's what we were there to see). We ordered a coffee - self service from a machine - and a bottle of water and it came to a very reasonable £3.60!
We then moved through to the little waiting area which had fantastic decor on the walls and comfy seating. The auditorium itself doesn't have your usual rows of seats. Instead it's made up of booths and comfy recliners, making it feel more homely. The screen was big and clear and the sound perfect (plenty of times in multiplexes I have struggled to hear anything). I also loved hearing the Pearl and Dean music at the start, a real throwback to my childhood (just missing adverts for Butterkist and a local Indian restaurant 😄).
Overall a fantastic venue and should be treasured by the people of Arbroath!
