点评:Due to closure of the bridge ( under reconstruction ) on the highway near Merapi Golf Course, we had to take a circuitous route to reach the Mount Merapi Vulcano view point.
The Merapi vulcano approach road is rather narrow but well maintained, free of traffic.
In the early morning, it was a pleasure to see Indonesia in rural settings.
One remarkable thing about life in rural Indonesia is that there is no street side assemblies, gossip groups - both men and women.
I have not come across any chai-pe-charcha groups anywhere in my visit in Indonesia.
In other words, Indonesians are calm, quiet, smiling, welcoming and also mind their own business.
Most of the Merapi Janata looking for adventure went further down the road to see the 2010 volcanic eruption ruins and for the rather bone rattling 4*4 jeep rides in the water channels.
There are also tent accommodation for the visitors on the slopes of the ravines. A few brave souls were also seen trekking on the slopes of the volcano.
The top floor of the private viewing platform was locked. The steps are not clamped. A few steps are also broken posing a potential risk to kids who don't watch their steps.
Even at that early hours, a few road side restaurants were open and serving the all time favourite of Indonesia - noodles with fried egg.
The rough pathway of fine volcanic dust could coat your shoes and dress with black volcanic dust.
A few college kids were having a memorable picnic with song and dance. Look out for their flash dance videos on TikTok.
It seems that the volcanic ash is very nutritious. Trees have again grown upto almost half of the height of Mount Merapi.
The south face top cone of the vulcano has been blasted off in earlier eruptions leaving a huge gash on the south face of the Merapi vulcano.
Very impressive to watch a live active vulcano spewing out smoke in rather close range.
Recommended for those adventure loving visitors who want to experience the raw power of nature at close range.
Visit early in the morning.
Recommended.
