点评：Oasis Pools near Newquay is an absolute gem, provided you can navigate an exit-barrier system so impressively thorough I managed to get trapped by two separate gates on my way out. In my defense, my complete inability to read basic exit signage certainly didn't help my escape attempt.
Once inside, the pool temperature is fantastically well-controlled, keeping the water pleasantly warm in a proper, high-tech engineering way rather than the terrifying "a toddler just had a pee" way. The air quality is a marvel too, completely lacking that traditional indoor pool greenhouse effect that usually melts your soul after five minutes.
The three slides provide plenty of drama. On the first one, you have to awkwardly drag and push yourself down like a stranded seal. I am comfortably under the weight limit, but watching full-grown adults furiously shimmying down a flume just to stay mobile was a fantastic bonding experience. The red slide boasts a precise "takes 8 seconds" warning, which feels like a direct challenge, while the rapids are policed by teenagers who look genuinely terrified that a six-year-old might drift away on their watch. Oddly, the rapids run for 3 minutes on and 7 minutes off—clearly, the cost of living crisis has come for the wave machine.
The changing rooms are shockingly good: spotlessly clean, stacked with massive cubicles, non-thieving lockers, and free hairdryers that actually work. You only get 80 minutes from your booked slot, which feels like a timed tactical sprint, but I’d willingly let a nervous teenage lifeguard supervise my aquatic adventures while I awkwardly shuffle down a fiberglass tube any day. Four stars.
