Shuttle system is expensive for a group - hike is AMAZING

点评：We rode the shuttle from the Waipo park and ride to Haena state park - it’s $40 a person, but the permits to park at the park seem to sell out immediately when they are released 30 days in advance so that was our only option. The shuttle ride itself is ok, very nice driver and staff, but you can’t bring anything with you except a backpack or bag that you hold in your lap. And you have to wait up to 20 minutes for everyone to load the shuttle, etc. I would only do this if you are really serious about hiking and are wanting to hike to Hanakapei beach and or Falls. It’s not worth it if you are just swimming at the first beach (Ke’e beach.) If you are a hiker though, the 9 mile (it’s longer than they say it is) to the falls is AMAZING! It is quite difficult due to the slick mud and stream crossings. Proper Footwear and water is a must. Those in our group with open toe tevas were miserable! But we felt so accomplished to complete the hike.
